Intel Prepares Major Announcements at CES 2025: AI-Enhanced Processors and More
Intel is poised to unveil significant advancements at CES 2025, following its confirmation to build Panther Lake on its advanced 18A node. According to reports from TechPowerUp and Wccftech, the tech giant—often referred to as Team Blue—will place a spotlight on AI capabilities in its next-generation processor lineup during the event.
Leadership Changes for the Spotlight Event
This CES marks a milestone for Intel’s leadership, as newly appointed co-CEO Michelle Johnston Holthaus will take center stage for the first time. She will be joined by Jim Johnson, Senior Vice President of the Client Computing Group, while former CEO Pat Gelsinger will not be attending.
Intel has teased the event with a preview image and the tagline “AI Inside for a New Era,” suggesting that the showcase will heavily focus on the company’s advances in embedding AI processing directly into its consumer processors.
Key Highlights to Anticipate
Arrow Lake Processor Series
Intel’s “AI Inside” branding underscores its ambitions to dominate the AI computing landscape, especially as local PC workloads increasingly rely on AI. The new Arrow Lake lineup is expected to take center stage, with configurations catering to both mobile and desktop platforms.
TechPowerUp reports that Intel will introduce mobile-focused Arrow Lake Core Ultra 200H and 200HX processors, alongside desktop-oriented Core Ultra 200S series processors, available in 35W and 65W power configurations. Additionally, the lineup may include mid-range and workstation-class 800-series desktop processors.
GPU Developments
In the graphics segment, Intel is rumored to expand its Battlemage GPU series. Wccftech suggests that new SKUs, including the Intel Arc B850 GPU, could be unveiled. Earlier in December, Intel debuted its Arc B-Series GPUs, such as the Arc B580 and B570, designed to enhance AI workloads.
Updates on the 18A Process
Further announcements may include developments on Intel Foundry Services and its forthcoming 18A process node. Wccftech highlights that Intel’s commitment to this node represents a major milestone, as the company positions itself as its own “customer zero” for this advanced manufacturing process.
The Panther Lake architecture, slated for release in 2025, will be built on the 18A node. According to Intel’s interim co-CEO Michelle Johnston Holthaus, the company has already distributed engineering samples to customers, with initial testing showing promising results as several chips have successfully powered on.
